Make your own ceramic game set—chess, mancala, mahjong tiles, or something entirely your own. In this 4-week handbuilding course, the instructor will help you design and build a playable set from start to finish. Bring an idea you’ve been dreaming about, and we’ll troubleshoot materials, scale, and construction together each week. Prefer a guided path? You can also choose to make a chess set/board similar to the examples in the course photos.

Open to all levels, this class is a fun way to learn and strengthen handbuilding skills while making something you’ll actually use. We’ll cover core slab and coil techniques, sketching and measuring for repeatable parts, planning for shrinkage, surface design, and finishing details—from clean edges and texture to crisp game-piece forms and polished final touches.Included in the class:

• 2.5 hr. weekly classes over a 4-week period

• A free 12 lb bag of B Mix

• Tools and glazes

• Firing of your class pottery work

• 2 hours a day of access to the studio during open studio hours Saturday & Sunday 12-5pm
